about

Real Estate’ is the upcoming second single from Adelaide based slacker-punk grunge-rockers The Public Holiday. Chiming melodic guitars collide against steady driving basslines creating a firm foundation for Anthony Wignall’s pleading assurance that he’ll succeed, that he’ll make bank and sell some quality real estate.

A tongue and cheek tribute to the suburban obsession with investing in houses not homes, the song is undercut by a deeper melancholy that speaks to the reality of being locked out of the market. Building in momentum, the song’s anthemic chorus crescendos over a wave of uplifting basslines and shimmering guitars. As the hopeful chorus subsides, we’re left with the steady rhythmic repetitions the song began with. Repetitions that remind of the daily grind of going to work, repetitions that remind us of Wignall’s pleading assurances that today he’s going to sell some quality real estate.
